ZF Trading UK Clutches a Place in the Final of BEN’s Annual Soccer Tournament

Monday 9 June 2008 – ZF Trading UK finished second in yesterday’s closely contested round of the BEN five-a-side soccer tournament to secure a place in July’s national finals.

BEN is the official charity of the UK automotive industry. The football tournament, run in conjunction with Powerleague, is one of the largest in the UK with over 100 teams participating. Teams in this year’s event hail from all automotive sectors including car and commercial vehicle manufacturers, aftermarket and parts suppliers, finance providers, marketing and media.

ZF Trading is an avid supporter of BEN and has participated in the five-a-side soccer tournament for the last three years. This year’s team of Steve Hickman, Alan Clarke, Lee Constable, Martin Bunning, Rob Montgomery, Dario Fabrizi and Pheny Muzondiwa all work at ZF Trading UK’s Crick facility, and have dedicated much of their free time to practising for the event.

The team played a total of eight games, winning five. Top goal scorers were Rob Montgomery, Pheny Muzondiwa and Lee Constable. Alan Clarke, operations manager, commented: “We are delighted to support such a good cause and events like this are great for company morale. We would like to thank all of our supporters who attended the match on Sunday. We are looking forward to the final, although we will have a tough challenge ahead of us – more practice will certainly be needed!”

The final of the BEN five-a-side soccer tournament will be held at Powerleague Birmingham on 6th July 2008.
