Lemförder International (LMI), was formed in Bremen 25 years ago to assume responsibility for all overseas aftermarket business of the numerous Lemförder factories.
- In the UK, trading was initially conducted through a number of commission agents.
- In 1988 Otus Industries Ltd. was formed and was appointed as the UK distributor for Lemförder products, providing sales, marketing and distribution facilities, based in Keighley, West Yorkshire.
- In 1999 LMI decided to take 100% control of their growing business in the UK & Ireland and subsequently Otus Industries became LMI GB Ltd., looking after the Uk & Irish sales, marketing & distribution as well as direct supplies from LMI Germany to customers in the UK and Ireland.
- Addy Doodt was appointed Managing Director of this new operation, being joined shortly afterwards by David Mottershaw, who returned to create the strong team that would take LMI GB to be one of the best performing subsidiaries in the Lemförder group.
- ZF, LMIs parent company acquired Sachs AG in 2002 and has formed a global sales, marketing & distribution operation, ZF Trading, of which LMI are now part.
- Following this acquisition and in addition to his LMI responsibilities, Addy Doodt was also appointed Managing Director of Sachs Boge (UK) Ltd, a ZF Trading sister company to LMI GB Ltd.
- In the UK and Ireland this has lead to even greater success for LMI, through utilising the sales & marketing resources of Sachs Boge, to increase LMIs penetration of the Car and CV aftermarket.
