The service kit consists of impact stop and bellows and/or tubular cable protection. These wrap the piston rod for the long-term protection of the shock absorber. Damages mean:
Pierce the shock absorber with larger road unevenness such as ground waves or road holes
Damage of the piston rod, e.g. by salt areas, stones, water
